A new look, more goodies

Now that you’re bedazzled by the new site, let me point out some important things.   First and foremost, I want to give credit to Dominic Willet who has worked countless hours helping make this site a reality.   We are extremely grateful for Dominic’s donated effort and would encourage those needing web design or other technical “stuff” to visit his web site at the following link.  Thank you Dominic.

Next, I would draw your attention to that little button to the right with little pictures of credit cards and the word, “donate”.  For those of you who may only attend our meetings in spirit and not had a chance to contribute, here is a easy way to show your support.    We would appreciate any gift you can provide.  Note that no member of our organization is compensated or even reimbursed for normal expenses other than material purchases used directly for meetings.

One of our biggest expenditures to day is insurance.  As of today, we are now covered for liability at any event, which is required for most events held on public property.   Any donation you are able to make is more than appreciated.  Please note that our non-profit 501-3C status is pending.  We are optimistic (the organization that helped us file papers, etc ha promised to return the fee if the IRS does not grant us a 501-3C).   This means donations made after Sept 1, 2011 (date of incorporation) can retroactively be claimed as tax deductible on your 2012 tax return once we are officially awarded, non profit by the IRS.   This also means that we can receive corporate donations.  If anyone has a suggestion for solicitation, please be sure to pass it along.

In the coming months, we hope to put on larger events, bringing speakers on important issues. One project in the thinking stage is a presentation that will more fairly project issues of Islam.  We hope to counter miss information presented recently at Hope College by experts from other universities which are the recipients of millions in Saudi money to project a favorable image of Islam and hide true intentions.

In early part of next year, we hope to repeat a candidate’s forum like that of Feb 2009.  It will showcase candidates running for US Senator.  As a non partisan organization, an invitation will also go out to Debbie Stabenaw.

Finally, this web site is more correctly called a “blog”.  There is no need to log in or register.   However, your submissions of articles are welcome.  Another way you can participate is by adding comments.   You can remain anonymous in this capacity.    It is a public blog, open to anyone and I expect some who don’t share our opinions will eager to add their words, hopefully creating some dialogue.   Comments are not restricted or require approval  (this is a change from the old site, where I was unable to figure out how to make comments open.   Only comments considered abusive or vulgar will be removed.

Thank you again for visiting our site.  Please look at all the sections.  We welcome your feedback.  You can add comments as described or you can email me directly at:  jimc@ottawacountypatriots.org.

Blessings to all,

Jim

    Jim/Dominic,

The site looks great! I have always like the logo picture at the top.

The only flaw I see is minor – where the scrolling news banner doesn’t resize quite right for width. I see 3 links and then about 1/2 of a 4th link.

A great site to help us link together, Patriot up!

  2. You are correct, the slider does not resize gracefully. That may or may not be fixable in the future depending on technical updates to the code I used, I will put it on the list as something I will watch for though.

Thanks Jim for the credit, I appreciate the kind words.

    (same to you Rob!)
